INSIDE OUT PROJECTPERSONAL NARATIVE
It falls over you like a dark cloud. It brings out all emotions joy, grief, and hardship. It maybe the most unpredictable thing humanity will ever get to know. The biggest question is what happens after this thing and where it leaves you. This event can bring out your deepest darkest feelings. It can bring grown men to their knees and leave children hopeless and afraid. DEATH! Probably the biggest fear in every human. This is how I dealt with it.
In the summer of 2013 I went on a bus tour with my church Bethel Unspeakable Joy for fourteen days. Our furthest point was Tennesse this is where my grandparents were going to meet me. They surprised me by meeting us while we were eating at a fast food restaurant. My whole body was filled with an electric pulse of excitement. When I hugged my grandma and grandpa it was like I was a kid the night before Christmas. I hadn’t seen them in two years. Even though we talked on the phone and did video chats from time to time, but nothing beat the physical feeling of their warm embrace. My pastor let me spend the rest of the day with them. When she said that I could have lept out of my skin. Pastor also allowed my little cousin Leilani to join us we just had to drop her off at Chili’s before they started ordering for dinner. We went to the movies and saw Despicable Me 2. After the movie we tried to find a way out of the complex parking lot. After, we finally got out of the entrapment in the deceiving parking lot. Unfortunately, we had to go back into the dreaded lot when my grandma realizes that my cousin left her jacket in the movie theater. The search was to no avail they couldn’t find the elucent jacket. Panicked and confused my grandparents were trying to pick the best way to get to the restaurant that we have to take my cousin too. My grandma said “Floyd I don’t think we are going the correct route.” Immediately, my grandfather said “I know where I’m going Joan.” We had twenty minutes to get there and we were stuck in mild traffic. In spite of this,5ik a7t6w we made it with a minute to spare. After dropping her off we went to Red Robin’s for dinner. I had a bacon cheeseburger with fries. After dinner we went back to the hotel. We were in the same as my church group. In the hotel, my grandfather and I watched the history and discovery channels. He had to get up and go to the bathroom a lot because his stomach was hurting him really bad. As I went to sleep that night between my grandparents I thought to myself what if my grandfather died tonight. How sad would I be and how the rest of my life would turn out without him to help guide me with the rest of my family. I soon let that horrendous taught slip into the back of my mind. The next morning confusion was widespread as I had to get stuff packed so we could get ready to leave and continue on our bus tour. My suitcase got locked in their hotel room and their key deactivated. We had to get a new key from the front desk. I got on the bus and waved goodbye to them. After I got back from the trip I had a little party for my birthday that happened while I was on the trip. The next day I went over to my dad’s house where he would give me the worst news I had ever heard in my life. He told me that my granddad had sakume to the effects of his cancer and died. A deep pit formed in the bottom of my stomach. He was gone my fears came true and ate me whole. All in all, this gave me a whole new perspective on life and that nothing lasts forever. I learned that I will never get to feel their warm and soft embraces from a hug again. I’ll never hear their comforting voices or noble advice for the rest of my life. Even though, a death in your family is the worst feeling in the world everyone can relate to your same experience. summaryThis story tells about my last experience with my granddad before his unfortunate passing. It also shows how I overcame this death.
Light box scriptGood morning my name is Jalen Carter I am the DVC graduating class of 2019 and this is my lightbox technical presentation.During my brainstorming I came up with my three favorite things Video games, Movies, and Hip Hop. I figured out how to combine them all in one box. For my research for the box I looked at movie poster at movie theaters that have lights shining thru them. My top three ideas stem from Media, Basketball, and Comics. My first idea was a high quality project that is a bit costly. The second and third one are really low budget and look cheap. I ultimately ended up picking the high quality project. My top idea is based around video games, movies, and hip hop/rap. I have multiple pictures of different video games coming out this year that I will be excited to play. On the left side of my box I have a collage of one of my favorite movie franchises MAD MAX. Inside I have an inverted reflected image of the top 4 greatest hip hop/rap albums in my mind. For my building process I started with carving and painting out the top title (Playbox One). Second, I spray painted the inside and wrote that mean a lot to me. Third, I had three mirrors put in foam to reflect the image inside. For revisions I changed all of the pictures and made adjustments to the mirror positions.
